Green Councillors have expressed solidarity with workers who are on strike across Northern Ireland this week.
Green Party Deputy Leader Cllr Mal O’Hara said: “The Green Party NI stands in solidarity with Unite members in our local councils and UCU members in our universities who are on strike this week.
“In the midst of a cost-of-living crisis, it is vital that all workers are paid fairly for their labour, and it is disappointing that workers have been forced to take strike action as a last resort to defend their rights.
“As Greens, we will always stand with workers and support them in industrial action. We will not undermine the strike by crossing a picket line, and we have asked the Belfast City Council Chief Executive to reschedule Council meetings due to take place this week.
“We urge the employers to come to the table, and negotiate an outcome agreed to by all unions.”
