Green Party NI representative Ciara Henry has welcomed the official opening of the refurbished Ballycopeland Windmill as a heritage visitor attraction.

The Bangor East and Donaghadee rep said, ‘I am delighted that Ballycopeland is set to open to the public from the 2nd June this year, just in time for the summer holidays. It is great to see this joint project come to fruition, that the visitor centre includes a Changing Places facility and that sustainable employment is part of the scheme, with USEL operating the cafe. This will provide opportunities for employment for people with disabilities and health related conditions.

“This windmill is a precious part of our local history and has a special place in the local communities’ heart, so the preservation of it is crucially important. It will also be a great place for people to visit from the wider Ards and North Down area, but also for tourists visiting.”
