🐾 Ban Greyhound Racing in Northern Ireland

Greyhound racing in Northern Ireland is completely unregulated, and dogs are paying the price.

Every year, thousands of greyhounds across the UK and Ireland suffer injuries, neglect, abandonment, and death due to the racing industry. In Northern Ireland, there is no statutory oversight of greyhound welfare, no injury reporting, and no protections for dogs once their racing days are over.

This lack of regulation means:

  • No accountability for injuries or deaths on the track

  • No legal standards for care or retirement

  • No transparency for the public or animal welfare groups

Other parts of the UK are moving towards reform or abolition. Northern Ireland must not be left behind.

✍️ We, the undersigned, call on the Northern Ireland Executive and DAERA to:

  • Introduce legislation to ban greyhound racing in Northern Ireland

  • Support rehoming efforts and welfare organisations that care for retired greyhounds

  • Ensure that no more dogs suffer in the name of entertainment

These gentle, loyal animals deserve better. Let’s end this outdated and cruel practice once and for all.
