Jones calls for solidarity with Muslim community
Green Party representative in West Belfast, Ash Jones, has condemned the recent placement of fascist flags outside a Dunmurry mosque. Mx Jones said:
"Dunmurry is a proudly multicultural area, where religious minorities should be free to worship as they please, free from intimidation by far-right groups. The raising of these flags was a deliberate and disgusting attempt to intimidate the Muslim community using this mosque. In a time of increasing activity by the far-right, it is more important than ever to stand by religious and ethnic minority communities, and I am heartened to see the widespread condemnation that these hate symbols have provoked.
I extend my solidarity to the Iqraa School in question, and call on as many people as possible to attend the anti-racist rally being held in Dunmurry on Saturday 26th August at 2pm."
