Green Party NI Justice Committee Member Rachel Woods MLA has commented on street violence this evening and across the week and ahead of an Assembly recall petition tomorrow:
Rachel Woods MLA said:

“The violence on our streets this evening and this week is dangerous and depressingly familiar.

"Twenty-three years after the Good Friday Agreement everything has changed but then nothing has changed. So called paramilitaries still coerce communities. We live segregated lives, both physically and psychologically.

“Society remains divided between them and us and our education system institutionalises segregation.

"There has been a peace dividend, but it hasn't been equally distributed. More equal societies are more stable societies. Northern Ireland is neither equal nor stable.

“The violence shows that we've had a political process rather than a peace process.
"It's time we offered hope over hostility and challenge the vested interests that have supported the continuation of violent conduct."
