Green Party MLA and Justice Committee Member Rachel Woods has welcomed progress on the Troubles Permanent Disablement Payment Scheme.
Mr Justice McAlinden, President of the Victims’ Payments Board has announced his intention to open the Troubles Permanent Disablement Payment Scheme for applications from 30 June 2021.
Rachel Woods MLA said:
“This is another step forward for eligible victims and at last, a firm date for the opening of the scheme.
“I’d encourage people who may be eligible to apply for the scheme to seek help and advice if they need it.
“The Victims and Survivors Service is one organisation working to make sure that all victims and survivors of the Troubles have the support and services they need. ”
Rachel concluded:
"I will also work through the Justice Committee to seek assurances that funding for the scheme will be ring-fenced and is sustainable going forward."
