North Down Green Party represntatives welcomes Translink's change of decision

North Down Green Party representatives have congratulated local communities, residents and stakeholders in lobbying Translink against the recently announced proposals from Translink to permanently close the pathway running between Bangor Bus and Rail Centre and Windsor Gardens and Manse Road/Brunswick Road.

Cllr Stephen Dunlop said "I was dismayed that Translink would seek to cut off this important path for residents and visitors to access the station and into Bangor Town Centre. I have used this path for years and did not want to see it removed for future generations.

Cllr Barry McKee comments that "Translink should be doing all it can to encourage more people to use public transport and active travel. This proposed path closure was counterproductive especially when the pandemic has resulted in a drop in public transport use. This decision has shown the power of people's voices."

Rachel Woods MLA said, "I was disappointed that Translink made this decision originally, seemingly out of nowhere. I am glad that they have made the decision to reconsider, given the significant interest that local communities and residents have shown over the past week."
