Bangor’s Green Party NI representatives have welcomed the announcement of funding for the regeneration of Bangor Waterfront as part of the £1 billion Belfast Region City Deal.
North Down MLA Rachel Woods said: “This substantial investment will redevelop a 2-mile stretch of the Bangor Waterfront. Our waterfront is an amazing asset for the people of Bangor, and popular throughout Northern Ireland. This new funding will ensure that we are best-placed to take full advantage of our wonderful local environment, and will provide an invaluable economic boost to the area.”
Bangor Central Councillor Stephen Dunlop said: “The Waterfront investment will fund the development of high-quality public spaces including a new Music Hub. There will also be money for the regeneration of much-loved local assets such as Bangor Marina, Pickie Fun Park, and watersports facilities at Ballyholme Yacht Club. This substantial investment in our local community will benefit everyone in Bangor, as well as attracting increased tourism from across Northern Ireland and further afield.”
