Green Party reps visit historic Donaghadee lifeboat

Green Party NI representatives, Rachel Woods MLA and Donaghadee rep Ciara Henry last week met with members of the the Donaghadee Heritage Preservation Company at the famous Sir Samuel Kelly lifeboat.

The North Down MLA said: "The lifeboat is a fantastic and important piece of local history and heritage and I was privileged to have been able to see it in the middle of its restoration process. I wish to thank the volunteers and all those involved in this project for their dedication and hard work. I will be engaging with the Communities Minister to see what support her Department can give. I thank Kit, Alan and Shirley for their time."

Ciara Henry said: "It is great to see this project coming together and I hope that the local Council, as well as other government Departments see the incredible value of the group's plans. Not only would their plans provide a permanent home for the boat, but also be important for local tourism and for young people's education about maritime history."
