Green Party MLA Rachel Woods has offered comment in response to the NI Executive’s plan for easing lockdown.
Rachel Woods MLA:
“The message from the NI Executive remains the same for now. Stay home, stay safe and protect our NHS.
“I welcome the announcement from the Executive on the continuation of lockdown restrictions and it is reassuring that our approach is broadly similar to that of the other devolved regions.
“The 'roadmap' lacks specific dates, details and time-frames. I accept that the Executive is guided by scientific evidence on when things should change rather than fixed points in time.
“I was in the Assembly chamber today to question the First Minister and deputy First Minister on their plan. I feel safe at my place of work and know that I can do my job and adhere to social distancing.
“However, this is certainly not the case for all workers - so today I raised with the First Minister the issue of workers sent back to work by employers and concerned about their health and well-being. Guidance issued to businesses must be followed and the health of workers is all important.
“I would encourage anyone returning to, or in work, and who is concerned about their health and safety to report their concerns to either their local Council or the Health and Safety Executive as quickly as possible.”
