Green Party NI representative Cllr Kathryn McNickle has today (Wednesday 11th August) resigned her seat from Ards and North Down Borough Council for Holywood and Clandeboye DEA.
Kathyrn commented, "Like many Councillors in their twenties, I balance my career and personal life along with my role as an elected representative.
"These other pressures have recently increased, and I have reluctantly accepted that it's not possible to meet the demands of my other commitments alongside representing the people of Holywood and Clandeboye DEA to the best of my ability.
"I've therefore taken the decision to step aside from Ards and North Down Borough Council. I've been inspired by the people that I've met during my time as Councillor. I will never forget the fortitude that our community showed during the challenges of Covid.
Rachel Woods MLA said, “I thank Kathryn for her extremely hard work over the years and her commitment to the people of Holywood and Clandeboye DEA. She has done an outstanding job as a Councillor, particularly supporting and representing people and communities throughout the pandemic.
"Kathryn's honest and sincerity has shone through since she made the decision to step down and I know that she will not be a stranger to the many friends she has made.
