Consideration for hospitality workers urged as bars ahead of bars and restaurants reopening

Friday 03 July 2020
Green Party MLA Rachel Woods has urged people to show consideration towards hospitality workers as bars and restaurants reopen this weekend.
Rachel, MLA for North Down has previously worked in the hospitality sector for over ten years.

Rachel said: “It’s encouraging that the Covid-19 transmission rate has remained consistently low and I want to thank everyone for their contribution.

“Accordingly, some bars and restaurants will reopen this weekend and many people will be delighted to have the opportunity to meet friends for a few drinks and a bite to eat.

“I’d really like people to show consideration for hospitality workers this weekend and beyond. Many businesses have had to adapt to re-opening with limited guidance having been issued by the Department.

“Many workers are returning with limited assistance around keeping themselves safe and I’ve been contacted by a number of people who are genuinely concerned about their working conditions.

“Let’s show hospitality workers the respect they deserve so that everyone can have a safe and enjoyable weekend.”
