Clarity on child contact during Covid welcomed: Rachel Woods MLA

Green Party NI Rachel Woods MLA has welcomed new guidance from the NI Executive on child contact arrangements for separated parents during Covid-19. 

The Justice Committee Member said: “The last few weeks have been testing times for many separated parents and their children. 

“Parents have strived to do the right thing to keep themselves and their children safe, healthy and to maintain contact arrangements. 

“However, there is concern that this pandemic and the lockdown have been used to deny access to children or frustrate court orders. 

“Maintaining routine is important for children during lockdown and safe access to both parents is always what is best for everyone involved in contact arrangements. 

“That’s why it is vital that this information is made accessible and well publicised. It’s crucial that parents know where they stand so they can do what is best for their family.
