Clare Bailey MLA reacts to NI Assembly restoration

Thursday 09 January 2020

Green Party NI leader Clare Bailey MLA has responded to the news that the NI devolved institutions will be restored.

Clare Bailey MLA said: “This is a positive development after three years of stagnation and inaction.

“Climate breakdown is the challenge of our time and I welcome the environmental commitments contained within the New Decade New Approach document.

“However, the environmental commitments don’t go far enough and Rachel Woods MLA and I stand ready to advance our vision for a Green New Deal through the Assembly.

“Similarly, we face a huge task in improving public service provision. Let’s see what money comes through to redress chronic underfunding across our health and education systems.

“The platform now exists to create sustainable and accountable devolved government – I hope this opportunity will be grasped.”
