Green Party NI leader Clare Bailey has maintained that there is no such thing as a good Brexit, in response to news of an agreement in principle on the Withdrawal Agreement implementation.
Clare Bailey MLA said: "There can be no cause for celebration when it comes to Brexit, even with the prospect of a no deal apparently avoided. The implementation of the previously agreed NI Protocol was the bare minimum of protection for the people of Northern Ireland and we know that Brexit will bite hard here even with a deal in place.
"We are not ready for what Brexit will bring, not least because of the problems with DAERA's lack of preparedness around agri-food movements across these islands.
"As always, the detail on the UK/EU deal will be all important. And of course, let's hope that the UK government doesn't again weaponise Northern Ireland's economic, social and political future as the realities of Brexit are laid bare after 31 December."
