Young Greens

The Young Greens provide a social outlet as well as a political home for young people.

They run workshops, conventions, events on campus and other activities to raise issues and engage young people.

During Freshers Week 2007, the Queens University Young Greens signed up 134 interested students, more than any other political society, which proved how much young people care about environmental issues and climate change.

The QUB Greens hit the national headlines when in Febuary 2008 they presented Sammy Wilson, Environment Minister, with the Green Wash Award for being the least environmentally friendly MLA and for his support of nuclear power.

The Co-Chairs of the Young Greens in Northern Ireland are Adam McGibbon (South and East Belfast Greens) and Mark McCormick (Down District Greens). The NI Young Greens often cooperate and liase with the Young Greens in the Republic of Ireland – www.younggreens.ie

The Young Greens are dedicated to assisting other young people in setting up Young Greens branches, wherever they are, throughout the province. You can contact them at:

If you are a student of QUB and need to contact a member of the Young Greens, please e-mail them on qubgreens@hotmail.co.uk or keep an eye on their campaigns through the Young Greens blog on www.qubgreens.blogspot.com
