‘Very sad day’ as fracking gets go-ahead

Leading anti-fracking campaigner and Green Party representative Tanya Jones has described today as ‘very sad’ in light of the governments ruling to allow fracking to proceed in Lancashire.

Speaking today, Thursday, 06 October 2016, Tanya Jones said,

“This is a very sad day. Instead of creating a forward thinking, sustainable energy vision for the UK, the government has overruled Lancashire County Council which made the decision not to allow fracking in the area.

“The government has ridden roughshod over the wishes of local people. This sends an ominous warning to the rest of the UK.

“It is clear that in its drive to continue to promote fossil fuels at the expense of renewable energy, the Conservative government only has the interests of big business at heart.”
