Trump’s state visit validates zenophobia, sexism, transphobia & climate change denial

Green Party NI Leader Clare Bailey has commented on Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK.

Clare Bailey said: “Donald Trump will enjoy the pomp and pageantry of a state visit but his presence will further divide people still suffering Brexit aftershocks.

“Even before setting foot in the UK, Trump launched a tirade against London Mayor Sadiq Khan. He’s intent on undermining the Office of the President of the United States one tweet at a time.

“Donald Trump defied convention by promoting Boris Johnson as the next UK Prime Minster. Unsurprising as right wing zealots tend to stick together.”

Clare continued:

“So, for the avoidance of any doubt, I don’t believe that this President should be afforded a state visit.

“I don’t want him negotiating the privatisation of the NHS with the future Tory Prime Minster.

“I don’t want the UK to incur the costs of entertaining Donald Trump and policing the inevitable protests.

“I don’t want afternoon tea with the Queen to validate Trump’s rampant xenophobia, sexism, transphobia and climate change denial.”
