Steven Agnew in Brussels for Barnier Brexit discussions
Friday 05 October 2018
Steven Agnew is in Brussels today to meet Michel Barmier and Guy Verhofstadt as part of a cross party delegation.
The leader of the Green Party in NI said: “I’ve gone to Brussels to ensure that the interests and concerns of the people of Northern Ireland are voiced at the highest level in Europe.
“My message to the EU delegations is clear – the U.K. and EU must stay in some form of a customs union and single market to protect our economic and social prosperity.
“I’ll also be reminding Mr Barnier that Northern Ireland voted to remain in the EU and so the DUP don’t speak on our behalf.
“The nefarious DUP/Tory Westminster arrangement cannot override the will of the majority of people across Northern Ireland who voted to remain in the EU.”
