South Belfast’s Wildflower Alley in line for UK award

“Congratulations to South Belfast’s Wildflower Alley on being shortlisted for Cultivation Street 2015, the UK-wide competition for inspirational community gardens,” said Green Party deputy leader Clare Bailey.

“This is just reward for the hard work that the local residents have put in to creating a better environment not just for themselves but also for the wider community.

“I have my fingers crossed for Wildflower Alley as the competition enters its final stage and, regardless of the outcome, it is clear that we can all learn from the residents of Wildflower Alley, which is an outstanding model of grassroots community empowerment”.

1. The Cultivation Street competition was devised by TV gardener David Domoney, who decided to create a garden competition that recognises and rewards communities that are caring for their streets, as well as encouraging other communities to join together and start anew.
