Rachel Woods set to become new North Down MLA

Tuesday 24 September 2019

Rachel Woods has been selected as MLA for North Down – joining Clare Bailey MLA to make the only all female Assembly team in Northern Ireland.

Rachel sits on Ards and North Down Borough Council at present and was previously employed as Constituency Office Manager for Steven Agnew.

Rachel said: “I am delighted to have been selected to serve the people of North Down as their MLA alongside Green Party NI Leader Clare Bailey.

“I grew up in Holywood and I still live in the town. I am passionate about North Down and am determined to serve all the people of the area as best I can.

“There are serious challenges ahead – not least climate breakdown, Brexit and lack of funding for our public services.

“I am determined to face up these challenges and make positive change across our communities.”

Clare Bailey MLA added: “Rachel has bags of ability and a real commitment to making a difference for people.

“I’m excited to see Rachel step up – I’m excited to work with her, along with our Councillors to deliver healthier, happier communities.”
