Full cooperation needed for independent panel members

Further to Secretary of State Theresa Villiers’s announcement as to the names of independent reviewers regarding paramilitary organisations, Green Party leader Steven Agnew MLA said today, Tuesday, 22 September 2015,

“I welcome the Secretary of State’s announcement as to who will oversee an independent assessment of paramilitary activity.

“I trust that the panel members will be afforded full cooperation on all sides. Should any party have any objections to the panel, its remit or its members, then they should speak up now.

“It would do the people of Northern Ireland yet another great disservice if, once the panel reaches its conclusions, that objections would then be raised.

“We need a definitive report as to the state of paramilitary activity.

“As I have previously said, there is no place in Northern Ireland for any paramilitary organisation.”
