Cllr Rachel Woods welcomes new dog fouling campaign

Thursday January 11 2018

Green Party councillor Rachel Woods has thrown her support behind a new campaign by Ards and North Down Borough Council to tackle dog fouling in public spaces.

The council has just launched its new Scoop the Poop campaign, including stepped-up enforcement patrols, social media campaigning and advertising, along with the provision of free poop bags to pet owners.

Councillor Woods said an area with a dog fouling problem instantly creates a bad impression for visitors.

“Last year we managed to make a big difference in Bangor West where there was a major dog fouling problem close to the railway station, simply by installing signs, bins and CCTV,” she said.

“I wish the council well in this innovative new campaign and I would urge all pet owners to behave responsibly and look after our beautiful borough.”
