Cllr John Barry -“Get on your bike for Cycle to Work Day”

Wednesday 13 September 2017

Cllr John Barry of the Green Party has urged people to get on their bike to mark Cycle to Work Day.

Cycle to Work Day (Wednesday 13 September) began in 2013 and has grown with each year since.

Cllr John Barry, Cllr for Ards and North Down, said: “Cycle to Work Day is about encouraging people to give cycling a go as part of their daily commute to work.

“Cycling all or part of your commute has many health, financial and environmental benefits – even if for only a few days in the week.

“Cycle to Work Day also celebrates those who are passionate cycling commuters. I fall into that category and I’d encourage people to give it a go where possible.”

Cllr Barry concluded:

“Today also serves as a timely reminder about road safety and the rights and responsibilities of all road users. With the darker evenings coming in, we should all think road safety when it comes to cyclists.”
