SAVIA rally

Clare Bailey MLA attends rally in support of victims & survivors of institutional abuse

Friday 23 June 2017

Clare Bailey MLA stood with victims and survivors of Historical Institutional Abuse in their continued fight for justice at a City Hall rally this afternoon.

The SAVIA Group (Survivors and Victims of Institutional Abuse) have faced a series of set backs since the publication of the Hart Report into historical abuse.
The collapse of the Assembly and Executive in December 2016 has meant that the compensation scheme recommended by Judge Hart has not started is unlikely to begin before next year.
Clare Bailey MLA said: “These people have been let down time and again by the politicians that promised so much. They are the human collateral of the inability of the traditional parties to agree a deal and deliver good and stable government in Northern Ireland.
“I will continue to stand with these brave individuals until such time as the state, which has let them down so badly during their lives, finally delivers something approaching restitution for them and their families.”
