Assembly must sit today in the interests of transparency and accountability

Thursday 29 March 2017

Green Party leader Steven Agnew has said that the Assembly should sit later today in the interests of transparency and accountability.

The party whips met this morning to agree proceedings.

The North Down MLA explained:

“The traditional parties have been negotiating behind closed doors for months now and have so far failed to reach an agreement.

“The people elected MLAs to sit in the Assembly back in March. Those MLAs should go to the Assembly chamber and explain exactly why an Executive cannot be formed.”

Steven Agnew MLA concluded:

“There should be no hiding place for the parties that have failed to deliver stable government for the people of Northern Ireland.”
